Habitat NRV is engaged with many programs such as VT Shack-A-Thon, Giles Tech builds, and Floyd safe housing through FISH (Floyd Initiative for Safe Housing).

Virginia Tech Shack-A-Thon

VT Shack-A-Thon, sponsored by Habitat for Humanity at Virginia Tech, brings together the Virginia Tech and Blacksburg communities to raise awareness about the need for sustainable housing in the New River Valley, and global community. Shack-A-Thon also serves as a fundraising event, helping Habitat for Humanity at Virginia Tech progress towards its goal of sponsoring a house build for a family in need in the Blacksburg community.

Giles Technical Center Builds

Habitat for Humanity New River Valley implemented a program at Giles Technical Center in which students work with their instructor to build housing modules at the school. These modules are then moved onto a foundation at the home site, where the home is finished by volunteers and specialty contractors where required.

Floyd Initiative for Safe Housing

FISH focuses on repair work for those individuals or families in need of dry, safe and warm housing. Also educating our community on our housing needs and lack of affordable housing in Floyd County. It helps in planning for future affordable housing in Floyd County.
